Damian Priest Reveals Edge Helped Him Prepare For The WWE NXT TakeOver: 30 Ladder Match

It was his first-ever Ladder match...

Damian Priest captured his first title in WWE over the weekend after he emerged victorious from the North American Championship Ladder match at NXT TakeOver: XXX. Challengers are gunning for The Archer Of Infamy and Timothy Thatcher demanded a future title shot last night.

Priest was recently asked about TakeOver by Justin Barrasso at Sports Illustrated and the new North American Champion revealed Saturday was the first time he had been in a Ladder match. Luckily for the NXT Superstar, WWE Hall Of Famer Edge was on hand to help him prepare for the bout.

Priest said: "This was my first-ever Ladder match, so I made sure I did my homework. A big part of that was reaching out to people who have been in ladder matches, and I spoke with Edge for an hour about it. For me, the main thing I took out of our conversation was that the match was not going to play out the way I thought it would. And he was right, because that's exactly what happened. Very little happened the way I thought it would, but I was able to adapt. And he told me to stay in the moment, and that stuck with me, too."
