Drew McIntyre Was Genuinely Concerned About Rioting Following WWE Clash At The Castle Main Event

In a recent interview with MySanAntonio, Drew McIntyre spoke about his feelings regarding the main event of last month's WWE Clash at the Castle event.

Drew lost in the main event of the show, an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns - a controversial result in the eyes of many, given the fact the show was the first major WWE event on UK soil since SummerSlam 1992. 

"I even asked Roman afterwards - because he's been a part of these matches with big crowds – have you heard anything like that, and he said 'No.' You’d be hard pressed to find a crowd that was that loud consistently throughout, especially our match. It was a World Cup soccer match the way they were shouting - the way they were singing their songs and chanting 'F you Roman' the entire time. And they were not happy with that finish, I was genuinely concerned about rioting. That's the reason we did what we did after the match."

This post-match segment saw lineal heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury join the beaten challenger in the ring, and sing a few lines of Don McLean's American Pie. It was a move which seemed to confuse many WWE fans, especially given its tonal contrast to the heartbreaking nature of the loss. Drew responded in kind with the chorus of Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger.

"[I've] just lost the biggest match of my life, but I have to at least try to give them a reason to smile right now. If it means I'm not wallowing in misery like I should, so be it. And if they don’t want to sing American Pie, and want some Oasis, I will give them Oasis."
