Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard Has Passed Away

Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family...

Earlier today, a body was discovered on Venice Beach, California which matched the description of former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard. The Los Angeles County Fire Department has now confirmed Gaspard's body was found earlier today.

The former Cryme Tyme members' passing comes after he went missing on Sunday after swimming in the ocean with his 10-year-old son. He and his son got caught in a strong rip current and Gaspard directed rescuers to help his son first. Before lifeguards could help Shad, however, he was hit by another wave and was not seen again.

The US Coast Guard and LA Police Department launched a huge search operation for the former WWE Superstar but the Coast Guard suspended their operation on Tuesday morning as they thought it was unlikely Gaspard would be found alive.

Shad enjoyed a successful WWE career from 2002 until 2010 and formed the popular tag team Cryme Tyme with JTG. While he never won tag team gold, he competed against the likes of John Morrison, JBL, and Shelton Benjamin, and even formed a brief faction with John Cena as CTC.

After leaving WWE in 2010, Gaspard kept himself busy working on motion capture and as a stunt man in Hollywood. He also produced a script for a professional wrestling TV show Pinfall which would follow an "ailing wrestling company trying to recover after the death of its owner." His wife Siliana Gaspard has said she has every intention of getting the TV show made and making his dream a reality.
