GUNTHER Makes History At WWE Royal Rumble 2023

A history-making performance from GUNTHER at WWE Royal Rumble 2023

Few would have believed one year ago that GUNTHER would make history in the 2023 Men's Royal Rumble - especially after WWE changed his name from WALTER - but that is exactly what the Intercontinental Champion did on January 28 in San Antonio, Texas.

GUNTHER entered the match at number one and made it all the way to the final two before he was eliminated by Cody Rhodes, who entered at number 30. Der Ring General put in an impressive performance, eliminating Drew McIntyre and Sheamus during the match to seemingly set up a third clash with Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship, possibly at WrestleMania 39.

Having lasted the entire 71 minutes in the match, GUNTHER beat Rey Mysterio's record of 62 minutes as the longest time spent by one competitor in a traditional Royal Rumble match. This, of course, ignores the one hour and 16 minutes that Daniel Bryan (AKA Bryan Danielson) spent in the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.

GUNTHER has been a fixture on the main roster since the SmackDown after WrestleMania 38 and he has been Intercontinental Champion for 233 days.
