Jack Perry Wins TNT Title At AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door

"The Scapegoat" wins a six-way ladder match

Jack Perry is the new AEW TNT champion, after winning a six-way ladder match over Mark Briscoe, Konosuke Takeshita, Lio Rush, Dante Martin, and El Phantasmo to capture the vacant title at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday night on Long Island.

Late in the match, Briscoe prevented Takeshita from winning by giving him a J-Driller off of one ladder through another. Briscoe then tried to climb for the belt, but was struck by Perry with another ladder, and then beaten with a steel chair. With Briscoe out, Perry climbed the ladder and retrieved the belt to win.

The win gives Perry his first reign as TNT champion. Perry previously reigned as Tag Team champion with Luchasaurus (Killswitch) as Jurassic Express for five months in 2022. The win also means that all four Elite members are current champions, as The Young Bucks are Tag Team champions, and Kazuchika Okada is the Continental titleholder.

The belt was vacated shortly after AEW Double or Nothing on May 26. Then-champion Adam Copeland sustained a fractured tibia in his defense against Malakai Black, and was forced to abdicate the belt.
