John Cena Doesn't Rule Out Reviving The Doctor Of Thuganomics In WWE

Will basic thuganomics return?

While John Cena hasn't used his Doctor Of Thuganomics gimmick on a full-time basis since the mid-2000s, only reviving the character for special appearances like at WrestleMania 35 when he verbally roasted Elias, the 16-time world champion hasn't ruled out bringing the gimmick back for a future WWE run.

"That's not true. Over the years, you've actually seen more of the good Doctor Of Thuganomics than over like the past 10 years. The appearance in the Firefly Fun House match, the appearance at WrestleMania with Elias. It's almost like that character has taken on a sense of nostalgia itself. So when it shows up, it's a thing that gets people excited. So, never say never," Cena said on Pardon My Take.

When Cena will next return to WWE remains to be seen, though, and Big Match John recently noted he isn't sure if he will be at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

The 44-year-old last appeared on WWE TV at SummerSlam in August of 2021 when he lost a Universal Title match to Roman Reigns.
