Johnny Gargano Might Only Wrestle Until He's 40

Johnny Gargano has one eye on retirement

Johnny Gargano might be ‘Johnny Wrestling’, but the 34 year-old former NXT Champion might only be ‘Johnny Wrestling’ for a few more years, with plans to retire at 40.

Gargano made the revelation during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, saying:

"There is a big part of me that says I only want to wrestle until I’m 40 and that’s only six years away at this point. So, I feel like I have about five years left to maximise whatever I want to do in this.”

Gargano made his debut in 2006, with the 16-year veteran plying his trade in the likes of Chikara, Evolve, Dragon Gate USA, and PWG, before signing with WWE in 2015.

In WWE NXT Gargano became one of the faces of the brand, becoming the first ever NXT Triple Crown Champion after winning the NXT Championship, NXT Tag Team Championships (with Tommaso Ciampa) and the NXT North American Championship, holding the latter on three occasions. Gargano would subsequently leave WWE in late 2021, after the expiration of his contract.
