Mickie James On If AEW Reached Out To Her Following WWE Release

Did AEW reach out to Mickie following her WWE release?

Mickie James recently appeared on Ariel Helwani's YouTube channel to discuss a number of topics, including AEW.

The current IMPACT Knockouts World Champion is scheduled to appear in the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble, a surprising piece of business between two promotions that haven't always seen eye-to-eye historically.

But Helwani also asked James whether she'd been approached by AEW, to which she replied:

"I never was technically reached out to by AEW. But I think they all knew that I was going to work with my husband at NWA, and I really wanted to do this women’s show [NWA EmPowerrr]. That was really important to me. I think there’s obviously matches and girls I wanted to work with, and I certainly would have entertained it or talked about it."

However, Mickie went on to explain that she wouldn't have been sure about signing a particularly long-term deal with AEW, given her multiple commitments both in the ring and outside of wrestling.

James is set to enter the 2022 women's Royal Rumble on January 29, alongside fellow former Superstars Michelle McCool, Summer Rae and Kelly Kelly, and WWE Hall of Famers Lita, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella.
