Report: NXT Head Writer Joe Belcastro Leaves WWE

Another change to the creative team...

In early August, reports noted that WWE had hired two more writers for NXT, bringing the total number to five, as there was a lot of unhappiness in the company about losing to AEW: Dynamite in the ratings almost every week.

There has reportedly been another change in NXT creative as Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Head Writer Joe Belcastro handed in his notice last week and has left the wrestling behemoth.

Meltzer said: "So, Joe Belcastro is the head writer of NXT, he also gave notice and he's actually gone already."

WWE has yet to officially acknowledge Belcastro's departure, but Triple H mentioned it was "business as usual" on the black and gold brand during the NXT TakeOver: XXX media call.

"As far as the writing of NXT goes, we shift around a little bit as things happen," The Game said. "I won't necessarily comment on people that aren't necessarily talent for us but we have a team that works with NXT that includes Shawn Michaels, Brian James, myself. So, it's a group and the ideas all go through that. It's really business as usual for us."

Meltzer provided an update on the change in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He noted Belcastro leaving "isn't a world changer" as Johnny Russo has taken over many of the former writer's responsibilities. Gabe Sapolsky will also have more influence on the black and gold brand going forward.
