Report: Update On Cain Velasquez's WWE Status

We could see Cardio Cain back in action soon...

Ahead of the Royal Rumble, reports indicated that Cain Velasquez was scheduled to be part of the Men's Royal Rumble match. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was backstage at the pay-per-view but WWE ultimately decided not to use him, and he hasn't back on TV since.

Since signing with the company back in September, Velasquez has been rarely seen because of a lingering knee injury. While it did not require surgery, Cardio Cain has been using stem cells to treat the injury, and they have seemingly done the trick as Nick Hausman at Wrestling Inc. reported Velasquez had his knee scoped recently, and doctors cleared him to return to in-ring action.

Cain is currently training ahead of his return at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and he will be there for at least the next two weeks. While no plans have been put in motion, Velasquez hinted his rivalry with Brock Lesnar could continue back in January.

Hausman wrote: "Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez successfully had his knee scoped recently and is reportedly feeling completely healthy, Wrestling Inc. has confirmed. Wrestling Inc. has also confirmed that Velasquez is currently at the WWE Performance Center 'getting in reps' as he prepares for his next match. Velasquez is expected to be at the WWE Performance Center for the next two weeks."
