Report: Update On Io Shirai's WWE NXT Status
Shirai last wrestled on July 6
Despite reigning as WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions with Zoey Stark, Io Shirai has not been seen since the pair won the belts on July 6.
Now, a report from Fightful Select has shed some light on Shirai’s status within NXT, stating that although she’s not been wrestling on television, Shirai is said to be fine, healthy, and wrestled at the latest round of NXT tapings last week.
Shirai has been part of WWE NXT since 2017, and is the third wrestler in NXT history to hold the NXT Women’s Championship and NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, after Ember Moon and Raquel Gonzalez.
After dropping the NXT Women’s Title to Gonzalez in April at NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver, Shirai was absent from NXT for over two months, returning on June 22, and wrestling up to the tag title win atThe Great American Bash on July 6.
Zoey Stark also hasn’t wrestled on NXT TV since the tag title win, although the pair have been seen in backstage vignettes.
