Report: WWE Spoke To Ronda Rousey After "Very Bitter" Raw Appearance

Ronda Rousey hasn't been the biggest lover of WWE fans in recent years, with the former Raw Women's Champion calling the audience "ungrateful idiots" following Bray Wyatt's release in 2021, which came after she had already claimed she would never return to WWE full-time because of "f*cking ungrateful fans."

Rousey appeared to hold lingering resentment towards fans for booing her during her final months in WWE as she portrayed a heelish gimmick upon her return at the Royal Rumble and that character carried into Monday Night Raw, even though she was seemingly supposed to be the babyface in a segment with Becky Lynch. 

When The Baddest Woman On The Planet returned to SmackDown, though, Rousey's character had completely changed and she appeared to be a babyface, playing up to the fans when she selected Charlotte Flair as her WrestleMania 38 opponent. 

A chat backstage following her Raw appearance seemingly led to the change, and Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Rousey was spoken to after a "very bitter" appearance on Raw. 

"Yeah, I believe people were talking to her about Monday. She acknowledged the fans. She was very bitter coming back, and I think that that was not a good attitude to have, especially since she's being portrayed as a babyface. Like people, when they saw her, go, 'Oh my God, she's being a heel', and it's like, 'No, that's just Ronda.' Then they had to talk her out of basically going, 'These people are cheering you, you have to acknowledge them, you don't mean-mug them,'" Meltzer said.

"She wants to be there because she doesn't have to do this. She hates the fans because of them turning on her, but you have to let that go. I presume somebody explained to her. I know people talked to her about certain things. It was explained that you have to let that go because, if you're going to be bitter about that...you're not supposed to be a heel and if you're bitter at the fans you're not going to be a very good babyface. She was way better."
