Rey Mysterio Pays Tribute To Eddie Guerrero At WWE WrestleMania 39

Rey Mysterio paid tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero at WWE WrestleMania 39

Rey Mysterio and son Dominik Mysterio finally clashed one-on-one at WWE WrestleMania 39 night One, with Rey paying tribute to the late great Eddie Guerrero during his entrance.

Rey was driven from the back in a lowrider with Snoop Dogg as the Snoop and Dr. Dre classic ‘Nuthin But A ‘G’ Thang’ played over the arena speakers, before breaking into Eddie’s ‘Lie Cheat Steal’ theme, and eventually into Rey’s classic ‘Booyakah’ theme by P.O.D.

Guerrero has been invoked many times during Rey and Dominik’s feud, with Dominik referring to the infamous “I’m your papi” feud between his two ‘dads’ in 2005 as he has become gradually more estranged from the Mysterios. Mysterio for his part in the feud, reformed the LWO on the go-home edition of SMackDown, initiating Legado Del Fantasma into the group originally formed by Guerrero in WCW.

Dominik also subtly paid tribute to Eddie and Rey, wearing purple gear with similar tight designs to Guerrero, whilst wearing a purple Rey mask on his way to the ring with a Skull on the back - possibly a subtle nod to Rey’s gear at Halloween Havoc 97 where Mysterio was dressed as The Phantom in his legendary bout against Guerrero.
