Roman Reigns Comments On The Storytelling Differences Between WWE Raw And SmackDown

Week to week vs. long term...

Since Paul Heyman was fired as Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, reports have noted WWE's flagship show has been written on a week to week basis and last-minute changes have been common. It has often been chaotic backstage ahead of Raw tapings and the lead writers on the red brand are reportedly "not up to the task of getting the show done in time."

As a result of the chaos, fans have criticised Raw's storylines for lacking any long-term goal. These same problems haven't affected SmackDown, however, and the blue brand has recently hosted multiple long-term stories including Bayley's betrayal of Sasha Banks and the feud between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

Roman Reigns commented on the storytelling differences between Raw and SmackDown during a recent meet and greet with Mania Club.

The Universal Champion said: "We got a bunch of fast-food fans and they complain that they want stories and well thought out stories to develop. When you start doing that for them, they want it all now. My people, I'm cooking a steak. We're creating an elaborate omelette and we're in the process of cracking eggs right now. You're not going to get it quite yet. We're gonna let the steaks stay on the grill. If you want your cheeseburger, watch Raw. SmackDown, we do filet mignon."
