Swerve Strickland Doesn't Think He'll Return To WWE In The Future

Swerve Strickland says a WWE return is not on the cards

Swerve Strickland has had a big year in AEW throughout 2024, becoming the AEW World Champion, main eventing All In: London inside Wembley Stadium, and continuing his heated feud with “Hangman” Adam Page. He recently signed a lucrative new deal with AEW, one which reportedly drew question marks from those in WWE, who deemed his contract was above market value.

He was asked during an interview with The Breakfast Club whether a return to WWE was on the cards, though he admitted that he sees it as unlikely, committing to helping AEW move forwards instead.

"Nah, I'm happy building AEW. I'm happy building myself in AEW. AEW has given me something that I don't think WWE could ever give me. I'm really proud of that and I wave the flag proudly because Tony Khan didn't take a chance on me, he knew what he wanted from me. He put me in the position and said, 'Now grow.' 'What avenues do I have to grow?' 'Whatever you want.' There were no parameters, no red tape. I learned how to become a true businessman on top of being a professional wrestler. That's why the mogul persona is truly personified in AEW. It let me be my best self as a man and a professional.”

Strickland recently commented on WWE’s response to his new contract, telling the world to not worry about what is in his pockets.
