The Undertaker: Vince McMahon Hated The Finish Of My WWE WrestleMania 27 Match With Triple H

"My Undertaker walks out of the ring. I don't care if he wins or loses, my Undertaker walks out"

Back at WrestleMania 27, The Undertaker and Triple H rekindled their hostilities and went one on one in a No Holds Barred match. It is widely regarded as the best match on the show and told a story of Triple H absolutely battering The Phenom with everything he had, but 'Taker still finding a way to survive and pick up the win with Hells Gate.

Following the match, Triple H's punishment to 'Taker had been so severe The Dead Man was unable to leave the ring under his own power while The Game walked out despite the loss, which ultimately led to their Hell In A Cell match at WrestleMania 28.

The Undertaker reflected on the 2011 match during an interview with ESPN SportsNation and he revealed Vince McMahon hated the finish.

"Yeah, he did not like it. He did not like it at all," The Phenom said. "And to quote, 'My Undertaker walks out of the ring. I don't care if he wins or loses, my Undertaker walks out.' And, you know, we already knew what we were into. We were in the third year of this story, and that alone is so special to be able to continue a story for four years. It's unheard of in our business.

"And we knew what the finish was gonna be and we knew we wanted to come back, and so how do we do that? Yes, I won the match but I couldn't leave on my own. He walked out but he lost and it just was like people were just blown away by that. Like, The Undertaker could not leave and it gave him, even though he took the L, he was already a mega superstar, but it gave him the credibility of like no one else had ever done.

"He left The Undertaker laying and unable to walk out. Which in turn led to that getting in my head like, 'Nobody leaves me laying.' So now we've got to come back and we came back in Hell In A Cell with Shawn as special guest referee. It was so good. Those four matches are probably my proudest body of work."
