Tony Schiavone Doesn't Know If AEW Will Ever Be As Big As WWE

Britt Baker's favourite person speaks...

Since All Elite Wrestling launched in January 2019, many in the wrestling world have heralded the creation of a legitimate alternative to WWE for the first time in close to 20 years. The young promotion has thus far attracted a loyal fanbase and is set to be profitable for the next three years due to their new TV deal with TNT.

AEW Commentator Tony Schiavone has doubts about whether AEW can ever be as big as WWE, however. During a recent interview with Matty Paddock at Sportskeeda, the former voice of WCW said WWE's infrastructure and their fan base overseas means it will be difficult for anyone to compete in the same way WCW did. He instead believes AEW can be a viable alternative in wrestling where other professional wrestlers can work and make a good living.

Schiavone said: "I don’t know if AEW will ever get as big as the WWE, with a network and the reach that they have overseas, because the WWE has been around for a long time. But I'd like to see it be a viable part of wrestling…I'd like it to be a place that very good professional wrestlers, both men and women, can come and make a good living and be treated fairly and make sure that it's a good place to work. That's what I'd like AEW to be just for the business itself."
