Update On Changes Being Made To WWE Raw Announce Team

It's more than one change

It was first reported on Saturday by Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc that veteran sports broadcaster Adnan Virk would be replacing Tom Phillips as play-by-play announcer on Monday Night Raw, beginning with the post-WrestleMania card.

However, this doesn't appear to be the only change forthcoming to Raw's announce team.

Andrew Zarian of Mat Men is reporting that the new Raw announce team would consist of Virk, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves.

It's unknown what this means for Samoa Joe. One possibility is that he could be replacing Graves as part of the SmackDown team with Michael Cole.

Joe, at least, has been part of the broadcasting coverage of WrestleMania 37. Phillips is absent entirely, reportedly due to COVID protocols.

Figure Four Weekly's report on the matter notes that Virk has a connection within WWE, as company President Nick Khan used to be Virk's agent, back when Khan worked at the Creative Artists Agency.

Virk worked for ESPN from 2010 to 2019, when he was let go for reportedly leaking company information to the media. He has since worked for MLB Network, NHL Network, and DAZN.
