WWE Payback 2020 Results

Retribution was the name of the game on August 30 as Payback was broadcast from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. 

Coming only one week after SummerSlam, Payback was still an eventful pay-per-view and featured three title changes. 

The biggest change came in the main event as Roman Reigns utilised a trick previously used by Brock Lesnar at Money In The Bank 2019 and waited until his opponents had destroyed each other before he made his entrance. The result was then inevitable and The Big Dog Speared Braun Strowman a few minutes later to win the Universal Championship. The Fiend will be out for revenge, however, as Reigns went low to avoid being trapped in the Mandible Claw, putting the champion out of commission. 

Earlier in the show, the unlikely pairing of Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax captured the Women's Tag Team Championship from The Golden Role Models. The Queen Of Spades picked up the win in an impressive outing as she forced Bayley to tap out to the Kirifuda Clutch while she had the Muta Lock applied to Sasha Banks. 

The rivalry between The Hurt Business and Apollo Crews also looks set to continue as The All Mighty defeated The One Man Nation to win the United States Title after an evenly fought contest.

The most shocking result on the show belongs to Keith Lee, however. While some expected The Limitless One to leave the ThunderDome with the victory, no one could have predicted he would do it in such dominant fashion. Orton never had the chance to get a foothold in the match as Lee repeatedly overpowered him with his unique offence. Even when The Viper finally went for the RKO, it proved to be his downfall as Lee countered into the Spirit Bomb for the 1-2-3.

Elsewhere on the show, Big E continued to string wins together as he defeated Sheamus, Matt Riddle vanquished King Corbin and The Mysterios finally got some level of revenge against Seth Rollins and Murphy in their tag team match. On the Kickoff Show, The Riott Squad pinned The IIconics.
