WWE Potentially Bringing In ‘Unexpected’ Forbidden Door Talent For Royal Rumble

Could WWE cross the 'forbidden door' again after bringing in Mickie James?

The news that IMPACT Knockout Champion Mickie James is to compete in the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world, with news that the usually insular WWE are doing business with other promotions seen as highly unorthodox.

Such news has gotten fans exciting about WWE broaching the subject of the proverbial ‘forbidden door’, and now a Tweet from Wrestlevotes suggests that there is the potential for some surprise names to enter the men’s Rumble:

“Had more than 1 source this weekend, w/o me directly asking, state they believe WWE will try for an “unexpected” forbidden door entrant for the Men’s Royal Rumble. Personally I’m skeptical it happens, but I can confirm WWE is at least open to the idea. Which is exciting enough.”

WWE have worked with other promotions in their past, such as the 1997 Royal Rumble where several Lucha Libre AAA stars competed in the event, never mind the ECW invasion in the same year.

Like Wrestlevotes tweet stated, these are only rumours, and it is wise to exercise skepticism as to whether WWE actually cross over the forbidden door’s threshold.
