WWE SmackDown Draws Lowest Attendance Since Return To Touring

The Friday 29 October episode of WWE SmackDown was reportedly the lowest attended show for the blue brand since the company's return to touring in July.

According to WrestleTix, Friday Night SmackDown last week attracted a live attendance of 4,180 people, filling the venue to an estimated 89 per cent capacity given the set-up at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

This number is the lowest that SmackDown has registered for a taping since the promotion returned to live shows and audiences in attendance in mid-July. 

WWE’s live event business has slowly dropped since John Cena wrapped up his most recent run with the company in late August, with the 16-time World Champion last working the SmackDown from Madison Square Garden in September. For reference, that show had over 13,000 people in attendance. 

Four of WWE's SmackDown shows have seen above 10,000 in attendance since the return of live events - the first two, the Madison Square Garden event and the show in Philadelphia just over a month ago.

The SmackDown figures continue a worrying trend for WWE who also registered their lowest-ever attended Monday Night Raw last month. Only 3,995 tickets were sold, and only 4,031 fans were in attendance with comps for the Raw in San Francisco, California on October 11.
