First Ever AEW World Tag Team Champions Crowned On Dynamite

Who won?

The tournament to determine AEW's first World Tag Team champions concluded on Wednesday night's episode of Dynamite from Charleston, WV.

After more than 15 minutes of back and forth action, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SCU defeated Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix, The Lucha Brothers, to become AEW's inaugural World Tag Team titleholders.

The finish came when the Lucha Bros attempted their Package Piledriver/double stomp combo on Sky, which Kazarian prevented by intercepting Fenix. Amid the save, Sky cradled Pentagon for the pin and the titles.

The two teams have been feuding since two weeks ago, when the Lucha Bros attacked SCU during their entrance in the tournament's quarterfinals. Pentagon delivered the Package Piledriver onto Christopher Daniels on the entrance ramp, forcing him out with injury. Sky slotted in Daniels' spot at the last minute (notably without proper gear), and he and Kazarian then prevailed over Best Friends.

Kazarian and Sky each become the first individuals to hold titles in both AEW and Ring of Honor, and Kazarian is the first to hold belts in both AEW and Impact Wrestling.

The Rock n Roll Express were on hand to present the titles to the tournament winners, but were attacked earlier in the night by Ortiz and Santana.
