AEW's First TNT Taping Sells Out Despite Purchasing Issues

First broadcast will play to a packed house...

All Elite Wrestling's maiden television broadcast on TNT will play out in front of a reported sell-out crowd at Washington DC's Capital One Arena, despite there being issues with Ticketmaster's website on Friday.

Tickets for the event went on sale at noon Eastern time Friday, and for the first 90 minutes, some prospective customers were given messages saying that no tickets were available, or that when an available ticket was clicked on, that somebody else had just bought it.

During the early stage of the purchasing process, Brandi Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and others tweeted that tickets were in fact still available, despite the messages from Ticketmaster's end.

Dave Meltzer reported later in the afternoon that more than 9200 seats were sold, before soon after amending his report to say that it was a sell-out.

It has not yet been reported exactly how many tickets were sold. Though the Capital One Arena can house more than 20,000 fans for basketball and hockey games, that number, as with most venues of the type, house considerably less for WWE-style events, due to entrance sets and other production needs.

Cody Rhodes tweeted out, "SOLD OUT! Thank you all so very much," and adding, "Do not give up hope on being there live though, we should be lifting potential camera/production holds as we get closer to the event. Keep checking at AEWTIX.com"
