Cody Rhodes Suffers Injury As Result Of Steel Cage Moonsault On AEW Dynamite

Still cleared for action...

It may have made for a spectacular TV show ending, but it came with a slight price.

Cody Rhodes' moonsault off of the steel cage onto Wardlow in the main event of Wednesday's AEW Dynamite ended the match, but also resulted in Rhodes suffering an injury to his foot.

Rhodes posted to his Instagram, "Long way down...” - small fracture in my big toe, but I’m on a treatment plan with @docwholifts_1 & CLEARED for action."

AEW's official Twitter followed up with a tweet reading, "As first reported by @CodyRhodes on his IG account  … And confirmed by @DocSampson13. Due to Cody’s foot hitting the mat after landing the moonsault, he has a: Non-displaced fracture of distal phalanx R great toe. His status: Cleared for action as tolerated."

Rhodes is scheduled to wrestle MJF at next Saturday's Revolution pay-per-view in Chicago.

The cage match victory over Wardlow was one of three conditions Rhodes needed to meet in order to get the match with MJF. Previously, Rhodes had to submit himself to ten lashes at the hands of MJF, while the other is that Rhodes cannot put his hands on MJF before the match takes place.
