David Benoit Talks About Training To Be A Professional Wrestler

He recently did an interview with Chris Van Vliet...

David Benoit has rarely spoken about his dad, Chris Benoit, on the record before. However, earlier today Chris Van Vliet released an interview with David, in which they discussed how his ultimate goal is to follow in his father's footsteps and become a professional wrestler.

During the interview, David explained that he is currently working on the oil fields near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, but that attending Double Or Nothing back in May rekindled his ambition to train as a wrestler.

David said: "I love it (wrestling). It's my life…That is the goal. To get back into wrestling. When I came here for Double Or Nothing, when I was sitting out in that crowd I just got lost in the moment, like I was way back when my dad was wrestling still."

He then mentioned that he previously trained at Lance Storm's wrestling school, but he did not complete the class. His aim at the moment is to begin training again and then get signed with a major promotion like AEW or New Japan, but not WWE.

He added: "That would be the goal (AEW), or New Japan. I tried getting in there… So hard to get into bro."

Later in the interview, David also said that he would take inspiration from his father when he finally enters the squared circle. He explained that he wants to be able to wrestle the same technical style as his dad and that he will use similar ring gear, adding: "Yeah man, I've got the tights with the claw."

David even admitted he would perform as Chris Benoit Jr. as opposed to David Benoit and that he had spoken to Our Lady Peace about using his dad's old entrance music.
