First Women's Champion Crowned, Former WWE Champion Debuts At AEW Dynamite Premiere

Big night in DC...

The premiere of AEW Dynamite on TNT was certainly an action-packed and energetic affair, taking place before over 14,000 fans at Washington DC's Capital One Arena.

The first AEW Women's champion was crowned, as Riho defeated Nyla Rose in the match to determine the belt's inaugural titleholder.

In typical Riho fashion, the diminutive competitor took a sustained beating before clawing her way back, defeating the imposing Rose after a Northern Lights superplex, followed by a charging Meteora, after 13 minutes.

Also notable from the evening was the debut of Jake Hager, the man known better in wrestling circles as Jack Swagger, which took place following the main event.

In said main event, AEW World champion Chris Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz defeated Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. The match became one of the handicap variety, after Jon Moxley jumped Omega, and the two brawled into the VIP area, where Moxley put Omega through a glass coffee table with his Death Rider DDT.

After Jericho pinned Matt Jackson with the Judas Effect, run-ins began en masse, as Cody Rhodes, Sammy Guevara (who helped facilitate an attack on Cody by Jericho earlier in the night), and Dustin Rhodes all hit the ring. Hager then slid in and began helping Jericho and company by attacking the babyfaces, which entailed giving Dustin the Red, White, and Blue Thunder Bomb onto a square table.
