Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa Slated For Mid-August Return?

Based on a report...

An internal WWE inactive list obtained by Fightful has Tommaso Ciampa's expected return from anterior cervical fusion surgery listed for the middle of August.

The former NXT Champion last wrestled on February 20, where he and friend-enemy Johnny Gargano performed in two tournament matches for the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Classic at Full Sail University.

Ciampa was scheduled to defend the title against Gargano at NXT TakeOver New York during WrestleMania weekend, but had to relinquish the title in March, due to his neck injury.

At the time, Ciampa was projected to miss a minimum of six months of ring action.

It should be noted that the timetables on WWE's internal inactive list may not be precise, and could be rough estimates, which are subject to updates as more information about the performers' statuses becomes available to them.

Earlier on Sunday, Ciampa put out an encouraging tweet, saying, "I went tanning for the first time since neck surgery. I used the lay down bed. I didn’t need to stack towels, felt zero discomfort, and did not lose feeling in my hands. Round of applause."
