JBL: “I Suffered From Memory Loss After Retiring From Wrestling”

The former WWE Champion opens up...

The world of professional wrestling has learned a hell of a lot about concussions and head injuries over the past 11 years or so, following on from the circumstances surrounding Chris Benoit's double-murder suicide.

Former WWE Champion JBL wrestled in WWE when a lot of concussion-inducing action - chair shots to the head and the like - was the norm. The former commentator has claimed that his career in the ring has caused some form of memory loss in later life.

Speaking on the Prime Time with Sean Mooney podcast, here's what Bradshaw had to say: “I should be a poster child for CTE. I have no idea what is going to happen. When I first retired, I had short-term memory loss and I started reading about neuroplasticity in the brain, about how the brain can regenerate itself and I don’t know if it can or not."

John also commented on how he deals with his memory loss problems: “I do all kinds of stuff. I do a mind game every day. I play chess, sudoku. I learn something different, a language, a few words of a different language. I learn something to always stretch the brain and my memory came back completely. Right now it appears to be as normal – if I can be called normal – but as normal as I know I am. Right now, I don’t have any effects.”
