Kevin Smith Claims He And Jason Mewes Were Disinvited From WWE SmackDown After Appearing At AEW Dynamite

Silent Bob speaks...

Most folks wouldn't have figured that two seminal film characters from a wildly-successful 1994 independent film would end up causing an issue in a wrestling promotional war 25 years later, but, well, here we are.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, respectively Silent Bob and Jay of the View Askewniverse collection of films (which are Smith's brainchild), appeared in the crowd last Wednesday night on the debut broadcast of AEW Dynamite in Washington DC. There, the two were confronted by Angelico and Jack Evans in a somewhat innocuous segment.

The appearance was set up by Chris Jericho, who has an undisclosed role in the forthcoming Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which hits theaters next week.

Smith has since revealed that the appearance got he and Mewes disinvited from WWE SmackDown's FOX premiere.

"Chris invited us," Smith revealed on The Rich Eisen Show. "We were supposed to go do WWE. And then, the morning after we were on the AEW show, it trended, there was a lot of coverage and stuff. The next morning, we were told that WWE was like, 'You can't come on anymore.' They canceled us. They kicked me and Jay off the show."

Jericho, who appeared with Smith on Rich Eisen's show, cracked, "The first casualty of the wrestling war was Jay & Silent Bob."
