Latest On Fox Wanting To Air Weekly WWE NXT Episodes Against AEW

The Wednesday night wars...

While an official launch date has not been revealed at the time of writing, AEW's weekly TV show will take to the air this October.

There had been rumours suggesting Wednesday Night Dynamite would be commencing during the first week of October, the same week that WWE SmackDown Live goes from Tuesday nights on the USA Network to Friday nights on Fox.

To combat whatever move AEW make, it looks increasingly likely that the weekly episodes of NXT TV will be moving to the same timeslot on Fox providing direct competition for the new Wednesday night show.

The latest on the situation comes to us from the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter: "FOX is in talks about getting NXT onto television. While not said, I can definitely see NXT on FS 1 head-to-head with AEW. It’s kind of a no-lose situation for WWE. If the ratings are close with NXT on a weaker platform, it’s a blow to AEW. If NXT does significantly better, yes they did beat WWE but again, are on a stronger station and they only beat the developmental brand. Plus, if it siphons viewers from AEW, even 10 per cent, it accomplishes the goal."
