Matt Sydal Bringing Back Evan Bourne Name For EVOLVE Appearances

Bourne again...

Dynamic high-flyer Matt Sydal is poised to renew his old Evan Bourne handle for a series of matches with EVOLVE later this year, according to a press release from the company.

The EVOLVE events in which Bourne is booked include November 9 in Queens, NY, November 10 in Brooklyn, December 6 in Livonia, MI, and December 7 in Chicago.

From the release: "Evan Bourne was one of the WWE's most exciting stars. He was known for his spectacular "Air Bourne" finisher off the top rope. He rose to being WWE Tag Team Champions along with Kofi Kingston. Bourne's last match was in 2013 and he parted ways with WWE in 2014. He competed as Matt Sydal, but the Evan Bourne name and persona was retired.

Bourne now wants to make a comeback. EVOLVE's connection to NXT allows him to revive the "Evan Bourne" name and precision style that thrilled WWE audiences."

The release also notes that Bourne's opponents are likely to be revealed early next week.

At the start of 2019, Sydal left Impact Wrestling, where he had held the X Division and Grand championship titles. He's wrestled only a handful of matches so far this year, including some for RevPro.
