NJPW, Dragon Gate And Stardom Announce Precautions In Wake Of Coronavirus Outbreak

Cancelled shows...

In recent weeks, the Coronavirus outbreak has wreaked havoc across the world. Currently, over 73,000 cases of the virus have been reported, resulting in 1875 deaths.

The disease has begun to spread in recent days, with 74 cases having been reported in Japan, along with 542 on the Diamond Princess, a cruise ship currently anchored off Yokohama.

With this in mind, Japanese professional wrestling promotions have begun to take precautions ahead of their upcoming shows. World Wonder Ring Stardom has cancelled all of its upcoming events until March 7. Its Korakuen Hall show on March 8 will go ahead but no fans will be allowed to attend, with the show instead airing for free on YouTube. Their shows in Osaka on March 14 have also been cancelled.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling is also currently preparing for its New Japan Road shows which will build towards the 48th Anniversary event and then the New Japan Cup. The promotion has not cancelled any events, but they have published precautions for fans to take. Those planning to attend shows have been asked to wear surgical masks, carry hand sanitiser and to be mindful of their physical wellbeing before travelling to an event. All autograph signings and meet & greets have also been cancelled.

Dragon Gate Pro-Wrestling has also published similar precautions to New Japan.
