NJPW Returns To Madison Square Garden In August For Wrestle Dynasty

Returning stateside in August...

New Japan announced during New Beginning in Osaka that they would be returning to Madison Square Garden on Satuday night, August 22, for an event called Wrestle Dynasty.

NJPW wrote of the event on their English-language website, "A Kingdom becomes a Dynasty in MSG this summer! Wrestle Dynasty will see the best of the best battle under the bright lights with the world watching in New York City!"

The event is scheduled to take place on the same night that NXT holds TakeOver inside TD Garden in Boston, the night before WWE SummerSlam is held in the same building.

The last time New Japan held an event inside MSG, they and Ring of Honor co-promoted G1 Supercard during WrestleMania weekend last year. The event drew over 16,500 fans for a card headlined by Kazuchika Okada's IWGP Heavyweight title win over Jay White.

Usually, the G1 Climax occurs in August, but the tournament was pushed back this year, due to Tokyo holding the Summer Olympics. It will instead take place in September and October.
