Randy Orton Says He Was "Just Having Fun" Teasing WWE Exit

The Viper speaks after a move to AEW looked like it could be on the cards...

In October, Randy Orton posted an image on Instagram teasing an exit from WWE as news emerged that his contract set to expire in June 2020.

In the post, he was stood next to a sign reading "Elite Level". Tagged in the post were WWE Superstars Luke Harper, Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, who had previously requested to be released from the company, along with Riddick Moss, Elias, and AEW wrestlers Cody and Chris Jericho.

Speaking on the official WWE Podcast After The Bell, The former Legend Killer told Corey Graves "I was just having fun" and that he never seriously considered leaving WWE.

He explained the teasing came partly because he has begun to watching wrestling outside of the: "WWE bubble." Admitting that he has enjoyed watching IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay, and "the guys who work with Cody."

He explained that he is "definitely happy being a WWE Superstar" and is very much enjoying his role as a mentor to newer WWE talent, using Ricochet as an example.
