Report: Arena Refuses To Work With AEW Because Of Relationship With WWE
It's arena warfare...
In recent years, WWE has proven resistant to allowing rival promotions use arenas they are commonly featured in. After Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling announced G1 Supercard would be hosted at Madison Square Garden, an arena synonymous with WWE, the company did everything in its power to prevent the event from going ahead. The issues were ultimately resolved after a month, and G1 Supercard was held on April 6, 2019.
The pressure from WWE has seemingly had an adverse effect on All Elite Wrestling, however, as Fightful Select reported Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio has refused to host the young promotion because they don't want to jeopardise their existing relationship with WWE. Cincinnati native, Jon Moxley, has pushed for AEW to run a show in the area, but they will have to settle for the Cintas Center at Xavier University instead.
WWE most recently visited Heritage Bank Center in December 2019 for a house show, but the venue has previously hosted more high profile events like Cyber Sunday in 2007 and Starrcade in 2018.
