Report: Injury Update On WWE NXT Star Velveteen Dream

Dream won the North American Championship from Johnny Gargano last February...

Velveteen Dream's last match in an NXT ring took place all the way back on September 18 when he dropped the North American Championship to Roderick Strong.

Since then, a few appearances in a non-wrestling capacity aside, little has been heard from Dream as fans continue to wonder what his immediate future holds.

Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has been able to provide us with an update on Dream's condition. Meltzer said the 24-year-old is currently out with a back injury that he describes as being "pretty serious."

Meltzer also said that Dream had been struggling with the injury for some time before it got worse, forcing the former Tough Enough competitor to take time away from the ring.

Meltzer later added that he hasn't heard an update on Dream's condition for some time, which means a timeframe on a possible return isn't circulating at the moment.

After dropping the title to Undisputed Era's Strong, Dream was set to have a rematch with the Messiah Of The Backbreaker. However, he was pulled from the match just before it was scheduled to take place last October.

Strong will defend the title against Keith Lee on January 22.
