Ric Flair's Surgery Postponed To Monday

An update on "The Nature Boy"

Wendy Barlow, wife of "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, posted on Instagram Friday afternoon, announcing that her husband's medical procedure that was planned for the day had been postponed until Monday, due to unspecified complications.

Flair entered into an Atlanta-area hospital earlier on Thursday, with TMZ initially reporting that he was rushed there in an emergency. Hours later, son-in-law Conrad Thompson downplayed the urgency in that report, saying that the hospital trip was for a planned medical procedure. Barlow added later Thursday that her husband was expected to make a full recovery.

Will Nunley with FOX 5 in Atlanta reported that Flair's lingering heart condition has been the cause of recent issues, and that the surgical procedure that was initially planned for Friday was serious.

The 16-time World champion had previously been hospitalized in dire condition in 2017, suffering the effects of heart and kidney failure, as well as pneumonia, all at once. In that instance, it took over a month for Flair, who had an estimated 20 percent chance of surviving that ordeal, to return home.

Flair is still scheduled at this time to appear at a comedy roast in his honor on Friday night, May 24, as part of Starrcast weekend in Las Vegas.
