Rusev Pulled From WWE Super ShowDown, Potential Reason Revealed

The Bulgarian Brute won't be able to add to his trophy cabinet...

WWE previously announced Rusev would compete against R-Truth, Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, AJ Styles and Andrade in a Six-Man Gauntlet match for the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy at Super ShowDown on February 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

However, during last night's episode of Monday Night Raw, Rusev was quietly removed from the match and replaced by Rey Mysterio, who will make his return to the company after having his head driven into the concrete floor by Angel Garza on February 3. While no official announcement has been made, Rusev was not mentioned as a competitor in the match on commentary and he has been removed from the match listing on WWE.com.

While the word going around was that Rusev was suffering from a back injury, The Bulgarian Brute has been in a contract dispute with WWE in recent weeks and Mike Johnson at PWInsider reported this was the reason for his withdrawal.

WWE made it one of their top priorities to re-sign the former United States Champion in the new year, but so far, Rusev has proven resistant to their advances. This caused the Superstar to miss almost a month of TV and house show appearances as the company refused to book him.

Now, Rusev will seemingly go back on hiatus until WWE decide to use him again.
