Sami Zayn Injury Details

Is this why his MITB match was so short?

Sami Zayn is reportedly dealing with a nagging injury, according to various online sources including PWInsider.

He has apparently been working with the injury at recent shows - which would explain the shortness of the bout between himself and Bobby Lashley at Sunday's Money in the Bank PPV.

There is no word yet on the specific nature of the injury - or the potential length of time Zayn may be forced to miss - but he has apparently been sent to Birmingham, Alabama to have the injury assessed.

It's possible that Zayn's injury has been bothering him for a while, given the nature of his recent feud with Lashley. Although the pair did come to blows on several occasions, the bulk of their rivalry was carried out in long, elaborate promo segments.

Zayn hasn't had the best of times since moving from SmackDown to Raw (a result of his and Kevin Owens' loss to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania). He was also controversially left off the Greatest Royal Rumble show in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a decision made reportedly due to his Syrian heritage.

Since then, he faced with Braun Strowman and Lashley alongside Owens - the pair losing a tag team match to the larger babyfaces at Backlash.

The rivalry with Lashley continued afterwards, with Zayn bringing three men to the ring dressed as women, insinuating they were Lashley's sisters in a poorly-received Raw segment. He also suggested that Lashley was lying about his armed forces history, before losing to him in the previously mentioned match at Money in the Bank.
