Samoa Joe On WWE Championship Match With AJ Styles At SummerSlam

Joe answers various questions on the upcoming title bout, as well as a variety of wider questions about his career.

We were recently part of a WWE conference call featuring Samoa Joe, the current number one contender to AJ Styles' WWE Championship. The pair are set to clash at SummerSlam on August 19th, and Joe fielded various questions about the upcoming event - as well as numerous others about his career more generally.

Many people asked questions relating to Joe's long history with AJ Styles, the pair having wrestled in numerous other promotions over the years before coming to WWE. The number one contender remarked that he feels no pressure in the build-up to the match, because he knows what he and Styles are capable of in the ring.

He also stated that, should he win the WWE Championship, he's willing to take on all challengers - specifically naming Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, and Rusev, but maintaining that he'd be happy to face anybody in defence of the title.

He also entertained the idea of a cross-brand match between himself and the Universal Champion, whoever that may be. With Survivor Series on the horizon - and last year's champion vs. champion bout between Styles and Lesnar still in the memory - it's not the most unlikely of potential match-ups.

When asked about NXT Superstars he tips for greater success in future, Joe mentioned that everybody on the roster is strong, but was full of particular praise for Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream. In terms of his own influences, he was keen to speak of his admiration for Arn Anderson, a similarly blunt, technically sound figure with an intimidating aura.

SummerSlam will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. UK viewers can tune in on Sky Sports Box Office or watch on the award-winning WWE Network. Sign up now and get your first month free from www.wwe.com/wwenetwork.
