Shawn Michaels Open To One More WWE Match

HBK wants AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan or Johnny Gargano...

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has told Sky Sports News that he is open to a return to the ring - however, it'll only be for one more match and it must be 'done the right way'.

HBK retired eight years ago now on the Grandest Stage Of Them All at WrestleMania XXVI at the hands of The Undertaker. Being one of, if not the best in-ring performers of all time, large portions of the WWE Universe have been begging The Showstopper to dust off the spandex for one more match - one 'in-gear' appearance at WrestleMania 32 alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley to take down the League of Nations aside, Michaels has resisted.

During the interview with Sky Sports, the 52-year-old said he is shocked WWE fans still want to see him make a return: "I've been retired for eight years now and when it got to the five-year mark I thought people would start asking me but they just kind of stopped.

"I think it's one of those that you would never say never about and if it was just for a one-off then it's something that I would take a look at. It would have to be done the right way and just for one match rather than something that ran for longer."

Eight years is a long time to be out of the ring, so the WWE Performance Center trainer has warned fans not to expect too much if he does indeed make a sensational return: "It could be possible but people would have to accept they wouldn't be getting the Showstopper, Mr WrestleMania, and that I'm 52 years old now."

Regarding potential opponents, The Heartbreak Kid does have a shortlist, but isn't setting his sights too high due to the limitations placed on his body after a lifetime in the ring, and such a long time retired: "AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan would be good, and then there's the guys in NXT too. Someone like a Johnny Gargano would be fantastic.

"But for a one-off match now, I'd need it to be a tag-team match where Hunter (Triple H) and I can just do a few crotch chops and have some fun."

The mind begins to wonder... Michaels is scheduled to appear at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament on June 18 and 19.
