SmackDown On FOX Debut: Brock Lesnar Wins WWE Championship, Is Attacked By Cain Velasquez Afterward

The next WWE title feud?

It took only a matter of seconds, but Brock Lesnar caught WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, deposited him with an emphatic F5, and won the WWE Championship for the fifth time in his career.

Lesnar's victory didn't make for the official closing scene of WWE SmackDown's FOX premiere, however.

Rey Mysterio's music hit during Lesnar's savoring of victory, signaling the arrival of both Mysterio and former UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.

Velasquez, who has twice wrestled for AAA, and worked out at the WWE Performance Center in the summer of last year, took Lesnar down and beat on him with some ground and pound, before Brock retreated. He teased returning to the ring to confront Velasquez, but then left, with the story being the noticeable fear in his eyes.

It was at UFC 121 on October 23, 2010 in Anaheim, CA that Velasquez defeated UFC Heavyweight champion Lesnar via TKO in just over four minutes to capture the belt.

The now-37-year-old Velasquez last fought for UFC in February 2019, losing to Francis Ngannou via TKO in just 26 seconds.
