Stephanie McMahon Announces First All-Women WWE PPV

Over 50 women are set to participate.

Stephanie McMahon returned to Raw tonight to announce the first ever all-women WWE pay per view.

The show, entitled Evolution, will take place on October 28th from NYCB LIVE: Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York.

The biggest news coming out of the announcement - apart from the show itself, of course - is Stephanie's statement that over 50 women will participate. Whether that means as in-ring talent or in a variety of roles remains to be seen.

In an official announcement on WWE.com, the involvement of WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita has been confirmed - as well as every woman on the roster. Again, it's unclear whether this means the main roster, or whether NXT contracted Superstars will also appear.

Speaking on tonight's Raw, Stephanie said:

'Because of all of you, men and women using your voices for change, we are able to provide the platform to show the world that women can do anything and be anything they want to be.'

Several female WWE Superstars immediately took to Twitter to express their excitement and support. Sasha Banks wrote 'I called myself ‘The Boss’ because no one believed I would be. If they didn’t want me in their club, I’d just make my own. We did it', while Bayley stated 'It’s that feeling where you can’t stop smiling. Incredibly honored and ready to represent the hearts of all little girls worldwide who’ve always wanted to follow their dreams.'

We'll have more news on details of Evolution as they emerge.
