Stone Cold Steve Austin To Appear On Madison Square Garden Episode Of WWE Raw

Oh hell yeah...

WWE bolstered their line-up for the September 9 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw by announcing that Stone Cold Steve Austin will be in attendance at the Madison Square Garden card.

No details have been given about what his appearance will entail.

Austin currently hosts the USA Network reality series Straight Up Steve Austin, which airs Mondays after Raw goes off the air.

The broadcast will mark the first episode of Raw to emanate from the Garden since November 16, 2009. The last time Austin wrestled in the famed venue was at the January 8, 2002 SmackDown tapings, where he and Kurt Angle fought to a no-contest.

Austin has traditionally proven to be ratings gold, even long after his retirement. His appearance at the Raw 25th anniversary show helped draw close to a staggering five million viewers for the first hour, while his appearance at last month's Raw Reunion helped the show hit a three million viewer average for the first time in 11 months.

It's imperative that WWE would try and load up that particular edition of Raw, as it goes head to head with the opening Monday Night Football games. It's at this time of year that football traditionally bites a chunk out of WWE's audience.

Two games will be airing that night, and the first one (New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans) will kick off at 7:10 pm eastern time, giving them a one-hour jump on Raw.
