Tony Khan Discusses AEW Bash At The Beach Trademark

Two week event to be held in January...

All Elite Wrestling announced on Monday that they will be resurrecting the WCW pay-per-view, Bash At The Beach.

The two-week event will begin on January 15 in Miami Florida, continuing into the following week where Dynamite will air live from Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea: Part Deux.

Speaking on the WINCLY podcast, AEW President Tony Khan explained how they were able to acquire the trademark: "Cody went on like a trademark binge one night and he was texting me the next day, and was like Conrad and I have been up all night trademarking stuff...and one of the things that came out of this was Bash At The Beach.”

WWE previously allowed their trademark to lapse and there is somewhat of a precedent for this within professional wrestling. After acquiring WCW, WWE failed to renew their trademark against WarGames, allowing Major League Wrestling to host their own event in 2003.

The Funkin' Army of Terry Funk, Sabu, The Sandman, Steve Williams & Bill Alfonso, defeated The Extreme Horsemen, composed of Barry Windham, C.W. Anderson, P.J. Walker, Simon Diamond & Steve Corino.

MLW hosted one more WarGames match before WWE purchased the trademark from them in February 2019. On MLW Fusion Episode 22: War Games 2018, the team of Shane Strickland, Tommy Dreamer, Kotto Brazil, John Hennigan & Barrington Hughes defeated Sami Callihan, Jimmy Havoc, Leon Scott, Fulton & Abyss.
