Update On WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames II Card

There will be four matches, no more...

At the time of writing, here is the full card for the second NXT TakeOver WarGames special:

  • Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship

  • Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano

  • The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong) vs. Pete Dunne, Ricochet, and War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe) WarGames match

  • Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Kairi Sane

According to an update on F4WOnline, this is the way the card shall remain. These four matches alone are being charged with filling the two-and-a-half-hour time slot on the WWE Network this coming Saturday night.

We've become accustomed to seeing TakeOver specials having five matches in recent times, but TakeOver: WarGames II is only having four due to the potential length of each bout currently on the card. With a WarGames match, a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls bout, and a storyline behind the Gargano/Black meeting that needs a big payoff, you can see why one of the match slots isn't being filled this time around.

Fans of WWE's yellow brand will be surprised to learn that Kassius Ohno vs. Matt Riddle will not be on the show. For weeks, Ohno had been asking General Manager William Regal for a challenge and saw the new signing as just that. This looked to be building towards a WarGames meeting, but it turns out, per the Wrestling Observer, that match will be recorded prior to the main pay-per-view card starting, airing as part of the weekly TV show.

Even though NXT are holding a television taping on 15 November, one television show's worth of matches will be recorded prior to TakeOver: WarGames II.
