WWE Championship Match Added To Friday Night SmackDown Fox Debut (SPOILERS)

Kofi Kingston putting the gold on the line...

During last night's WWE SmackDown Live, The New Day and FTRKO went at it in six-man action.

At the end of the bout, we found out the main event match for SmackDown's debut on Fox come October 4. Kofi Kingston will defend the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar.

Following New Day's win over Messrs Orton, Dawson and Wilder, Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE television alongside Paul Heyman, who officially made the challenge on behalf of The Beast Incarnate.

Kofi accepted before being attacked by Brock who hit the champ with an F5.

This will be the first TV match Lesnar has had in 15 years as he has been exclusively fighting on pay-per-view and Network specials since returning to the company. His last television match was a two-minute squash over Hardcore Holly on March 2, 2004.

The first and only other time Brock Lesnar has faced Kofi Kingston was at the WWE Beast In The East Network Special from Tokyo on July 4, 2015. In that match, Lesnar confidently defeated Kingston in under three minutes, so the odds perhaps aren't in the favour of the Champion this time around.

Already announced for the debut of Friday Night SmackDown on Fox is a 20th Anniversary celebration for the blue brand which will feature appearances from the likes of Mick Foley, Booker T, Lita, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, Jerry Lawler, Mark Henry, Ric Flair, Goldberg and Sting.
