WWE Raw Ratings Drop To Record Non-Holiday Low
This week's ratings are in, and they're not looking good.
WWE Raw's ratings dropped to a record non-holiday low this week, as 2.13 million viewers tuned in.
This is Raw's lowest rating in modern history, excluding episodes broadcast on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
The main reason for this appears to be Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors - which competed with Raw during the final two hours of WWE's show and drew 18.22 million viewers. According to the Wrestling Observer, this game can be considered the 'sole reason' for the record low number.
However, enthusiasm for Raw has been low recently, with the show routinely attracting heavy criticism from fans and critics alike. A recent reason for this appears to have been last week's Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia, which has rendered interest in the upcoming Stomping Grounds PPV low.
Stomping Grounds is set to take place on June 23rd, and the card currently features four rematches from shows in recent months. Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin and Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler both took place in Saudi Arabia last week, while Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans clashed at Money in the Bank on May 19th. Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre is also a rematch, having taken place at WrestleMania 35.
