WWE Releases The Ascension

Cast off from The Wasteland...

The exodus of WWE talent continues as the company has announced the release of Konnor and Viktor, The Ascension.

WWE amended their earlier report of the releases of Luke Harper and Sin Cara to include the duo, writing, “WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper), Sin Cara and Ryan Parmeter (Konnor) and Eric Thompson (Viktor) of The Ascension. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Neither man has wrestled since April 8, 2019, when they lost to Heavy Machinery on the post-WrestleMania tapings of Main Event. They also wrestled in the Andre the Giant battle royal the previous day.

Previously, Konnor and Viktor reigned for one year as NXT Tag Team champions, shortly before the duo was prepped for their impending main roster run.

The Ascension debuted on the main roster in December 2014, and though they defeated The New Age Outlaws at that year’s Royal Rumble, the two’s push stalled very quickly, and were relegated to the undercard before long.
