2K Sports Teases 'Special Announcement' At WWE WrestleMania 37

Is WWE 2K22 on the way?

2K Sports, the developers for WWE games, have teased a 'special announcement' at WrestleMania 37.

A short video posted to the @WWEGames Twitter account told the WWE Universe to watch out for a announcement related to WWE 2K at this weekend's 'Showcase Of The Immortals'.

It is speculated that the announcement will be about WWE 2K22 in what would be the next instalment in the series by 2K Sports, after skipping an annual release last year.

WWE 2K20, released at the end of 2019, was met with largely disastrous reviews by critics and players alike, with a number of technical issues and glitches meaning the game has one of the lowest Metacritic scores in 2K's history.

Publisher 2K hired former Double Helix studio head Patrick Gilmore to take over WWE2K last year as the company attempted to enact a “renewed focus” on quality.

In the absence of an annual WWE 2K game last year, the company instead produced and released WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a spin-off with a different art style and comes with an arcade-game feel.
